Rep. Lou Correa Named To U.S.-Mexico Inter- Parliamentary Group
Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA-46) released the following statement after being named to the U.S.-Mexico Inter-Parliamentary Group.
Rep. Correa said, “The United States and Mexico are strong allies and neighbors. Ensuring our policies reflect this commitment to mutual growth is critical to positively growing our countries’ relationship while laying the foundation necessary to address the dangers posed by transnational drug cartels and Central America’s growing refugee crisis. Only as partners, can the United States and Mexico build a strong future for our citizens.
“Additionally, Mexico is California’s largest trading partner and an invaluable part of the United States’ economy. Without a strong partnership with our southern neighbor, numerous states and localities will suffer. I am excited about the opportunity to work with our Mexican partners in growing and developing mutually beneficial policies that help both our countries thrive.”
Background: U.S.-Mexico Inter-Parliamentary Group is a bipartisan and bicameral program to promote and foster a bi-national dialogue between members of the United States and Mexican legislative bodies on issues of bilateral importance.
Rep. Lou Correa represents California’s 46th Congressional District. He serves as Chair of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, and as the Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet. Read more here.
