Rep. Correa Announces Bill To Protect Consumers From Cyberattacks

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Correa announced legislation to protect consumers from cyber attacks and data breaches. The Cyber Breach Notification Act will require firms to disclose when personal information has been potentially compromised allowing consumers to take necessary actions to protect themselves from identity fraud and commit other crimes.

Rep. Correa said, “Cyber breaches expose people’s most personal and vital information, exposing individuals to grave security issues. Consumers and companies need to be notified when their data is stole in a timely manner to protect themselves before to is too late.”
