Correa Applauds the Judiciary Committee Passage of the MORE Act
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) a member of the House Judiciary Committee and a cosponsor of the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2021 (MORE Act) released the following statement applauding the House Judiciary Committee’s Passage of the MORE Act. In addition to decriminalizing cannabis at the federal level, this legislation will unleash the power of American innovation in the cannabis sector by permitting medical research into cannabis.
Rep. Lou Correa said: “As a long-time supporter of cannabis reform, I’m proud to see the Judiciary Committee passed the MORE Act. For too long, the federal government has failed to understand how its cannabis policies create harm instead of opportunity. As one of the most comprehensive cannabis reform bills introduced in Congress, this legislation will align federal cannabis laws with the will of the American people and take full advantage of the medical benefits.”
BACKGROUND: Congressman Correa previously voted for the MORE Act in the 116th Congress last year. The H.R.3617 – Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2021 :
