Correa Applauds News of $500,000 in HUD Grants Funding In District
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) released the following statement applauding news that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded the Orange County Fair Housing Council, Inc. federal grants totaling of $500,000 to expand education and outreach for individuals who have experienced housing discrimination in Orange County, California.
“I am glad to see federal funds that I fight for are going to my district in Orange County to provide education and outreach in my community,” Rep. Lou Correa said. “ No one should ever experience discriminatory housing practices or be denied the chance to live in their perfect home. Grants provided to the Orange County Fair Housing Council, Inc. allow for their to be investigations and identification of unethical discouragement. It is important to always have equal access to housing.”
Background: The Orange County Fair Housing Council, Inc. conducts outreach and provides educational courses for minorities, immigrants or a disabled individual that experience housing discrimination. They also conduct tests to detect and take action against biased rental practices, steering or discouragement by real estate sales agents and brokers, or possible pre-application discrimination by mortgage lenders.
