Rep. Lou Correa & House Judiciary Committee Advance Major Legislation
Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) and the House Judiciary Committee advanced significant legislation to protect Americans from illegal oil cartels, and voted to prepare a subpoena in advance of Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker appearance before the Committee on Friday.
Rep. Correa said, “Today my colleagues and I voted to send the bipartisan H.R. 948, the No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels Act (NOPEC) to the House Floor for a vote. This bill will prevent global oil cartels from conspiring to influence oil prices and protect American families from high gas prices.
“Additionally we voted to authorize the preparation of a subpoena for Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker. On Friday, Mr. Whitaker will testify before the Committee, and this subpoena will ensure he tells us the full truth.”
