Rep. Correa’s Supports CHOICE Funding Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) voted in favor of H.R. 5674?—?VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Outside Networks Act of 2018. The bill will provide emergency funding for CHOICE programs which are scheduled to run out of money in June and establish new community care programs.
Rep. Correa said,
“Ensuring our veterans continue to have access to the healthcare is paramount. H.R. 5674 will ensure CHOICE is fully funded and veterans can continue to get access the care they need at a provider near them.”

H.R. 5674—VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Outside Networks Act of 2018 will authorize VA to establish a permanent community care program for veterans. It also establishes a commission for the purpose of making recommendations regarding the modernization or realignment of facilities of the Veterans Health Administration and improves VA construction practices. In addition, it would expand the post-9/11 caregivers program to pre-9/11 veterans in a phased approach. Furthermore, this bill includes a number of provisions that seek to improve VA’s ability to recruit top talent to provide healthcare services and improve veterans’ care in underserved areas.
