Rep. Correa Calls For Federal Cannabis Reform Following Trump Administration’s Reversal
Washington, DC—Congressman Lou Correa released the following statement regarding the Trump Administration’s reversal of the Department of Justice’s attack on legal cannabis programs:
“While the Administration’s decision to end its attacks on states with regulated and legal cannabis programs is welcomed news, this dramatic policy shift illustrates why we must reform federal cannabis laws.
“We can’t continue to have an uncertain legal environment surrounding cannabis. Patients around the country depend on cannabis, and their access to medical cannabis should not be left to the whims of the White House.
“When Attorney General Sessions rescinded the ‘Cole Memo,’ I introduced legislation to protect states like California and Colorado. That legislation is now more critical than ever. Until cannabis is legalized, states and patients around the country will continue to be at risk of prosecution.
