Rep. Correa Supports Amendment to Study Psychedelics as a Treatment for PTSD for Military Members
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) released the following statement in support of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) amendment that expands on a separate provision currently attached to the measure in committee that only gives the Department of Defense (DOD) a mandate to explore cannabis as an opioid substitute for military members with specified health problems.
"More than a decade ago, we began addressing veterans' invisible pains by advocating for legal cannabis through the VA. Sadly, very little has changed in a decade.
Our service members with PTSD and other debilitating conditions deserve the medical treatment that works for them. Many veterans use cannabis to treat psychological and physical wounds they sustained while serving our nation. It is our obligation to ensure that the VA provides our vets with all medical treatment options."
