REP. CORREA NAMED TO HOUSE HOMELAND SECURITY AND JUDICIARY COMMITTEES FOR THE 118TH CONGRESS
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) announced that he has been tapped to serve on both the House Committee on Homeland Security, and the House Committee on the Judiciary.
“In the wake of 35 years of inaction on immigration reform, and in the midst of one of the greatest humanitarian crises this nation has ever seen at its border, I’m honored—and determined—to get to work with my colleagues on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security committees,” Rep. Correa said. “Alongside my fellow House Democrats, and working across the aisle with my Republican colleagues, I am determined to deliver better-paying jobs, safer communities, a brighter future for our children through education, and meaningful immigration reform to all who call Orange County home.”
The Committee on the Judiciary has been called the lawyer for the House of Representatives because of its jurisdiction over matters relating to the administration of justice in federal courts, administrative bodies, and law enforcement agencies—including immigration matters.
The Committee on Homeland Security conducts oversight of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operations, and holds jurisdiction over immigration policy and border security, transportation and infrastructure security, emergency preparedness, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, the Secret Service, and election security.
