Rep. Correa Introduces Bill To Help Homeless Veterans & Their Children

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Correa introduced the Veterans Employment and Child Care Access Act which provides childcare services to struggling veterans who are seeking employment. This bill will allow low-income veterans to focus their effort on searching for and maintaining stable employment while knowing their children are safe with a professional childcare provider.

Rep. Correa said,

“We must do everything we can to get veterans struggling with poverty and those who have stumbled into homelessness back on their feet. This bill is just one of the many tools necessary to ensure struggling veterans are given a second chance.

I am proud to join Senator Tammy Duckworth, who is a veteran and a hero, in calling for this new resource. I am eternally grateful for Sen. Duckworth’s sacrifices and the sacrifices of her fellow veterans. Our veterans stepped up and served us. We must do the same. This legislation will help homeless veterans focus on getting their lives back on track without worry for their children’s well being.”

Veterans Employment and Child Care Access Act will help impoverished veterans get childcare while preparing themselves for jobs. The services provided would assist with children’s crucial development and growth stages while veterans go out and seek employment that will be able to sustain their development. This bill also helps our most vulnerable veterans, the homeless, regain control of their lives by caring for their children while they train to reenter the workforce and care for their family. This is the House version of Senator Duckworth’s bill S.2565—Veteran Employment and Child Care Access Act of 2018.
