Rep. Correa Calls for the Biden Administration to Protect Afghans Targeted by Taliban

Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) led his colleagues in issuing a letter to President Biden in support of Afghan allies who served alongside U.S. troops for the past two decades and whose lives are threatened by the Taliban receive protection. Those who are most vulnerable and targeted are Afghan women, human rights activists, journalists, religious and ethnic minorities; they face retaliation and are in danger without immediate assistance and deserve humanitarian parole.

Rep. Lou Correa said, “As we continue to monitor the development and are receiving new reports on Afghanistan, I urge the Biden Administration to evacuate Afghan allies targeted by the Taliban safely and quickly. The U.S must not turn its back on Afghans whose lives are in danger. I will continue to lead efforts with my colleagues in Congress to continue evacuation as long as necessary.”
