Rep. Correa Calls for $6 Billion in Funds to be Reallocated for Resettlement of Afghan Allies in the United States
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) issued the following statement urging the reallocation in $6 billion in unspent Defense funds toward our Afghan allies’ resettlement in the United States.
Rep. Lou Correa said, “As I continue to monitor the unfolding situation in Afghanistan, it is my understanding that there is $6 billion in unspent Department of Defense funds for the now-defunct Afghan Security Force. I urge this money to be used for the resettlement of Afghans including those who fought alongside our American soldiers for the past two decades, as well as other allies.”
