RANKING MEMBER CORREA STATEMENT ON FTC ANTITRUST COMPLAINT AGAINST AMAZON

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, in response to The Federal Trade Commission and 17 state attorneys general filing suit against Amazon.com, Inc., Representative Lou Correa (CA-46), Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust, released the following statement:

“The FTC must continue to ensure that consumer protection and the promotion of competition remain at the forefront of the Biden Administration’s antitrust agenda,” Correa said. “While companies like Amazon remain a core economic tenet of countless neighborhoods across the country—providing jobs and opportunity to underserved communities like mine—more must be done to spur competition and innovation across the retail industry.”

“It remains imperative that we redirect our focus back onto the folks reliant on paychecks—and services—from corporations like Amazon, and put them at the center of the political conversation,” he concluded. “And I won’t stop fighting to make sure their voices are heard, right here in the halls of Congress.”
