RANKING MEMBER CORREA STATEMENT ON BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING REQUEST
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46), the top Democrat on the House Border Security and Enforcement Subcommittee, released the following statement:
“This supplemental funding request directs resources to our nation’s frontlines, and begins to address the root causes of migration—and will also assist our regional neighbors deal with the refugee challenges they are also facing alongside us,” Correa said. “The issues being faced at our border did not get created in a vacuum, and as such, require comprehensive, common-sense action—and this request is a strong first step, as it will empower and support our neighbors with their resettlement efforts across our region. Additionally, the Biden Administration's decision to lift sanctions on Venezuela will help the nation rebuild Venezuela’s economy, while making Venezuelan oil available to American consumers here at home, and reduce prices at the pump.”
“This is good public policy, plain and simple,” he concluded. “And Congress must pass it as soon as possible.”
