CORREA OPPOSES GOP VOTER SUPPRESSION EFFORTS, AGAIN

Republicans continue to push voter suppression efforts ahead of the November elections

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) released the following statement on his ‘no’ vote on H. Res. 1490, a GOP bill that calls for the enactment of the SAVE America Act, which will suppress millions of voters across the country ahead of the November election.

“As I have said time and time again: Non-citizens are already barred from registering and voting in federal elections. Break that law, and you’re looking at jail time or deportation. The only thing the SAVE America Act will do is create barriers for service members and everyday Americans to vote. Under these bills, a driver’s license or a military ID – which is good enough to buy a gun, board a plane, or serve our country – wouldn’t be good enough to register to vote. I won’t vote for any bill that makes it harder for the people who defend this country to exercise their right to vote.”
