Correa Congratulates Alex Padilla For Being Appointed California’s Next United States Senator
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) released the following statement applauding Gov. Gavin Newsom's appointment of California Secretary of State Alex Padilla to the United States Senate:
"I am proud of my many years of service alongside Alex. He has long been a friend to Orange County, and in the 1990s, we walked door to door together to help Democrats break the red curtain in the County. Alex and I served together in the California State Senate and fought to make our streets and communities better.
"As the son of Mexican Immigrants, Alex understands what it means to work hard to achieve the American Dream. I look forward to continuing to work with Alex to ensure that every American has the same opportunities that brought the sons of immigrants into the halls of Congress.
"Alex will make us proud. He is a dedicated, thoughtful, and hardworking public servant who will fight for every Californian and will make a remarkable United States Senator.
"Welcome to DC, Alex. We're glad to have you."
