Correa Condemns Senate Priorities After Amy Coney Barrett is Confirmed While COVID-19 Relief For “Main St., USA” Is Stalled

Correa Called Out Senate For Confirming Amy Coney Barrett & 26 Federal Judges While Ignoring Coronavirus Pandemic

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Lou Correa released the following statement regarding the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court:

“For nearly eight months, Americans have been living through a once-in-a-century pandemic that has disrupted every aspect of their lives and our world.

“With millions unemployed, Americans have looked to their government for help. Yet in this time of unprecedented need, the President and Senate Republicans have ignored the pleas of everyday Americans, choosing instead to confirm Justice Barrett to the Supreme Court and 26 Federal judges, while COVID-19 relief packages languish in the Senate.

“Americans need help, and they deserve a government that sees their suffering and prioritizes ending it. If Senator McConnell can work 30-straight-hours over a single weekend to confirm Justice Barrett, he can work with the House to pass a stimulus package that helps Americans. There is only one reason why he won’t—it’s not as important to him.”
