This week Rep. Correa was back in Orange County and had a first-hand view of the coastal oil spills on his inspection flight with the Coast Guard and called for a comprehensive investigation from federal agencies.
The Congressman also celebrated Walk to School Day by visiting the Mcfadden Institute of Technology and spoke with teachers, parents, and students about the importance of keeping an eye out for pedestrians and children near crosswalks.
Lastly, The Congressman was happy to be back in the district and joined the Anaheim Vs. Western Bell football game and was excited to see the community come together.
The Weekly Rundown
Following the disastrous oil spill off of the coast of Orange County, Congressman Correa joined Congressmen Mike Levin and Alan Lowenthal in calling for House leadership to retain provisions in the reconciliation package that would end offshore oil and gas leasing, including off of the Pacific Coast.
While Congress is still negotiating the final language of the reconciliation package, Congressman Correa joined his colleagues in calling for congressional leadership to keep several important provisions of the reconciliation package intact. Including the current Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC), robust tax incentives for union-made electric vehicles (EVs), and the agriculture portion will make transformative investments in agricultural research, rural development, renewable energy, and biofuels, conservation, and forestry.
Rep. Correa cosponsored Congressman Matt Cartwright’s Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act to guarantee that public service employees have the freedom to unionize and negotiate for fair wages and working conditions. Lastly, Congressman Correa, along with his colleagues, urged the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) & the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to finalize the CMS Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) Proposed Rule, including the provision to extend the Medicare “50/50” blended rate for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) in rural and non-contiguous areas.
