Service Academy Summer Seminars
If you are interested in attending one of our nation’s service academies, consider attending an informational summer seminar. These seminars fill up quickly and deadlines are approaching fast. Most seminars are two weeks during the summer and are intended for High School Juniors that will become Seniors in the Fall.
U.S. Military Academy (West Point)
The Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) application is currently closed and will reopen January 15, 2018 for high school juniors. SLE is highly competitive since there are normally 6,000 applicants and just 1,000 attendees. SLE gives high school juniors a week to experience life as a cadet to inform their college selection decision. SLE is a fast-paced program of academic classes, military training, physical fitness training, and intramural athletics conducted during the month of June each year. You must have standardized test scores to be considered for SLE. For more information read about the requirements below.
U.S. Naval Academy:
The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar is the first step in navigating your future to becoming one of our nation's next generation of leaders. If you are currently in your junior year of high school and considering the Naval Academy as your college of choice, we strongly recommend you consider applying to Summer Seminar. Summer Seminar will introduce you to life at the Academy, where you will experience first-class academic, athletic, and professional training at the #1 public college in the U.S. (Top 25 Public College in the U.S. 2017, Forbes). Your Summer Seminar application will also serve as a preliminary application to the Academy that you will complete before or during your senior year.
Naval Academy Summer Stem Program
For students entering 9th-11th grade.
Thinking of a career as a coder, game developer, designer, or robotics engineer? Then start with the experience of a world-class program like the Naval Academy’s Summer STEM Program. STEM is all about exploring, creating, building, and making things better, and at our Summer STEM Program, you’ll do just that. You’ll work with students from all over the country as you test your problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration skills
U.S. Air Force Academy:
Summer Seminar at the United States Air Force Academy offers a unique opportunity to get the Academy experience first-hand. Specially designed for high school juniors heading into their senior year, Summer Seminar allows participants to see themselves as USAFA cadet.
U.S. Coast Guard Academy:
Since the 1950s, approximately 14,700 high school students have discovered the United States Coast Guard Academy by attending the Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) program. Exclusively for students preparing to enter their senior year of high school, AIM is now widely regarded as the most realistic service academy summer orientation program in the country. AIM will test and inspire those interested in serving their country and humanity as officers in the nation’s oldest continuous maritime service. In six non-stop days, immerse yourself in Academy tradition and cadet life. The program is intense and rewarding. More importantly, AIM will help you to discover if you possess the mind, body, and character to succeed at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy:
Unfortunatly, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy does not have a Summer Seminar.
