Rep. Lou Correa Passes Renter, Homeowner Pandemic Protections
Washington, DC — Today, Congressman Lou Correa voted to pass H.R. 7301 – Emergency Housing Protections and Relief Act. This important legislation provides relief for renters and homeowners who have been severely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. The bill supports renters and homeowners by extending the eviction moratorium, establishing a robust emergency homeowner and rental assistance fund, provides funding to support important federal housing assistance programs, and more.
Rep. Correa said, “COVID-19 has disrupted our economy, resulting in deaths, serious medical challenges, and unprecedented economic harm to our communities. In addition, to address the health aspects of COVID-19, we in Congress continue to work to address these economic hardships by implementing economic stimulus packages. It’s not enough. Many of our families and neighbors continue to feel economic pain. Many renters and homeowners are out of work and in danger of losing their homes. Eviction and foreclosing will only make matters worse.
“This legislation The bill supports renters and homeowners by extending the eviction moratorium, establishing emergency homeowners and rental funds, and provides funding to support federal housing assistance programs. Adding to the ranks of the homelessness during this pandemic will make matters worse. By supporting each other we can help our neighbors keep their homes and survive this pandemic. I am proud to support legislation and provide real relief to real families in need.”
