Rep. Lou Correa Opposes President Trump’s Inadequate Immigration Reform Proposal
Washington, DC - Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA-46) released the following statement on President Trump’s inadequate and misguided immigration proposal:
“Our nation’s immigration system is broken. Families and hardworking immigrants are continually left behind and denied access to a legal pathway to live in dignity. The President’s proposal continues this trend of ignoring the immigrants who are already here, making our country better and our economy boom.
“Our current system exploits immigrant communities by trapping them in jobs that are critical to America’s economy, without any chance of becoming an American. Americans and immigrants alike need common sense immigration reform that allows the United States to gain the workers we need while allowing immigrants a chance to achieve the American Dream.
“The President’s plan fails these immigrants and fails the values our country was built upon. We must reform our immigration system, and that reform starts with a system that is as fair to immigrants, as it is to the United States.”
Rep. Lou Correa represents California’s 46th Congressional District. He serves as Chair of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, and as the Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet. Read more here.
