Rep. Correa’s Statement On The March 5 Deadline For DREAMers
Washington, DC—Congressmen Lou Correa (D-CA) released the following statement about Congress’s failure to pass a solution for DREAMers:
“Six months ago, President Trump ended DACA and put 800,000 young people in jeopardy. Since then my colleagues and I have introduced nearly two dozen bills to end the chaos and help DREAMers stay in the only country they have ever know. Even with bipartisan support, not a single bill has come to the House floor for a vote.
DREAMers pay taxes and contribute billions to our economy. Americans from all walks of life favor giving DREAMers a pathway to citizenship because DREAMers have demonstrated they are good for America. By failing to pass a bill to help these young people, Congress has failed them and failed America.
While today’s deadline has lapsed, I will continue fighting for DREAMers. I will not forget you, and I will not stop.”
