Rep. Correa’s Statement on Passage of 2019 National Defense Authorization Act

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) released the following statement about the passage of the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) conference report:

“I am pleased by the step Congress has taken towards rebuilding our military and preparing our nation for tomorrow’s national security threats.

“This bill increases military spending on programs vital for our security while reforming wasteful spending practices. The NDAA invests in our soldiers by getting them the best training, best equipment, and best support to ensure they can accomplish their mission and come home safe.

“The bill also takes actions to check Russia’s aggressive behavior by investing in the European Deterrence Initiative (EDI) and reaffirming America’s strong support and friendship with NATO. It also takes steps to prevent future cyber threats from China by banning ZTE. The bill goes further and strengthens our ability to protect ourselves from cyber attacks and requires a whole-of-government response to foreign cyber attacks.

“Because of this bill, Americans will be safer and better prepared for the threats we may face in the coming years.”
