REP. CORREA STATEMENT ON REPORTS OF POLITICAL CORRUPTION IN ANAHEIM
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) released the following statement in response to a long-awaited independent report assessing allegations of political corruption in Anaheim City Hall:
“Seeing corruption in my hometown breaks my heart,” Correa said. “Elected officials are supposed to fight for the best interests of hard-working taxpayers, not the other way around.”
“As an elected official, I have fought for taxpayer equity, namely, to bring back to Orange County taxpayer funds that we have duly paid to our state and federal governments. Millions in COVID-19 relief funds, provided by those very taxpayers, were designed to help our communities survive the pandemic, keep small businesses open and feed our neighbors. Even still, many small businesses weren’t able to receive these funds and, as a result, did not survive,” Correa concluded. “To discover that these funds were illegally misappropriated by some to enrich themselves, at the expense of countless hard-working Orange County families, is beyond the words of anger and frustration.”
