Rep. Correa Fights To Protect Federal Funding For Homeless Veterans
Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Lou Correa testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development to urge the committee to support homeless veterans and low-income veterans at risk of becoming homeless by fully funding HUD-VASH.
Rep. Correa said, “No veteran who has served his or her country should be homeless, yet more than 40,000 veterans won’t have a roof over their head tonight. The HUD-VASH program is vital in fighting veterans homelessness. It provides rental assistance and the support necessary to help veterans get off the street and reintegrated into society. If we have any hope of getting California’s 11,000 homeless veterans off the streets, we need HUD-VASH fully funded. America makes its veterans a promise. We must continue to work to provide our veterans with the support they need to get back on their feet.”
