WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representatives Lou Correa (CA-46), during the first House Judiciary Committee hearing of the 118th Congress, fought back against Republican-led efforts to end asylum for refugees fleeing violence and seeking safe-haven in the United States.
“This is an example of how you deal with the refugee crisis,”said Rep. Correa, referring to the Ukrainian refugee camp he visited in Tijuana, Mexico. “The Biden administration, thankfully, is now working on implementing a similar [parole] program for Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans…[a]nd the solution isn’t just here. Our neighbors, Canada and Mexico, have to be part of the solution as well.”
