Rep. Correa joins school officials to present community project funding check at Anaheim High School’s 125th Anniversary Celebration

Rep. Correa is a proud alumni of Anaheim High School, and this funding is part of the nearly $30 million that he secured for community projects throughout California’s 46th congressional district in the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) omnibus appropriations bill, which President Biden signed into law last year. Rep. Correa worked in lockstep with community leaders to identify priorities for CA-46 constituents and fought for them during the annual funding process.

“As a proud alumni, I’m so proud to have secured $2 million for Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) for the restoration of the William Cook Auditorium at Anaheim High School,” said Rep. Correa. “This project is personal to me. As a former student of Anaheim High School, I know first-hand the high-quality education our students can receive—and the opportunities they can be given with the right support from their educators and their government. To know that, with this funding, we are going to restore such a jewel of our community—the Cook Auditorium—and uplift thousands of students with interest in the arts makes me more proud than I could ever express.”

The Cook Auditorium at Anaheim High School is a historical building to both AUHSD and the Anaheim community at large. The two-level, 1280 seat auditorium has been host to numerous school and community events since the original construction in 1935. AUHSD hopes to bring new life to this architecturally astounding building with much needed modernization/restoration work. This funding will specifically be used for the theater and performing arts portion of the modernization plans. This includes determining the need for new stage lighting, sound boards, speakers, microphones, projectors, and other professional technology that is required for the production of theater shows, band performances, and other performing arts events at the venue.

"We are grateful for Representative Correa's leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts on behalf of the students, staff, and families of our District,” said AUHSD Superintendent Michael Matsuda. “His commitment to ensuring that our schools have the resources they need to succeed has made a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and our community as a whole."
