WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) released the following statement after he voted YES on H.Con.Res.40 to remove U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities with Iran that have not been authorized by Congress:
“Congress is the branch of government with the sole power to declare war.
“We are at war in Iran. Yet, the President has yet to justify to Congress why we are engaged in this war, what the objectives are, when these objectives will be accomplished, and what a win looks like. Congress needs to reassert our authority to declare war. This nation must not be part of any efforts to destroy the Persian Civilization or any other civilization.
“I am voting for the Iran war powers legislation to cease American efforts in this war.”
