WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46), Co-Chair of the bipartisan Real Estate Caucus, voted for the Affordable HOMES Act to make manufactured homes more affordable and to make energy efficiency regulatory processes more efficient. This legislation will cut red tape energy efficiency standards that potentially drive up costs of manufactured homes. With manufactured homes being the largest source of unsubsidized affordable homeownership, keeping these homes both affordable and energy efficient is essential for millions of working families.
“We are living through an affordable housing crisis. We should be working on bringing costs of homeownership down, not fighting about complicated energy efficiency standards,” Correa said. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Let’s let housing experts do their jobs without introducing more red tape.”
