WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) voted against GOP-led H.R. 1526, the No Rogue Rulings Act and released the following statement:
“This flawed legislation would destabilize the ‘checks and balances’ built into our constitutional system,” Correa said. “It would limit lawfully appointed judges’—appointed by both Republicans and Democrats—ability to do their jobs and issue nationwide temporary injunctions against unlawful actions taken by rogue executive branch officials, including any President. These injunctions are a tool that are never used lightly, and oftentimes are necessary to pause unconstitutional federal government actions while litigation proceeds. They’re essential to protecting the freedom of every American.”
“The framers of our Constitution established a judicial branch as part of the checks and balances essential to protecting our liberty,” he concluded. “That’s why I voted ‘no.’”
