CORREA STATEMENT ON GARLAND CONTEMPT VOTE
WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Lou Correa (D-CA) voted against holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress and released the following statement:
“As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, I’ve been in the room as my colleagues on the other side of the aisle hosted fact finding hearings to determine whether the Committee should recommend the Attorney General be held in contempt. Contempt is a serious matter—and throughout this process, it has become clear that my Republican colleagues have used it as nothing more than a partisan political stunt. Attorney General Garland is a fine public servant who’s dedicated his professional life to serving this country, and has done so with honor. That’s why I voted ‘NO’ today.”
