Correa, García, Espaillat Stand in Solidarity with Immigrant Communities Across the Nation In Support of A Day Without Immigrants

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Representatives Lou Correa (CA-46), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) and Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement in support of A Day Without Immigrants:

“We applaud the thousands of immigrants gathering across the country to bring greater attention to the challenges that immigrants and their families continue to face. Despite their significant contributions to our country before, during, and certainly after the COVID-19 pandemic, the government continues to pay immigrant communities lip service when it comes to delivering lasting relief.

“Millions of immigrants, many of whom are undocumented or essential workers, stepped up to keep this country running. They risked their lives  and the safety of their families despite an uncertain future. They kept our grocery shelves stocked, our packing warehouses running, and our businesses and places of work sanitized so they could remain open. Today’s grassroots efforts reaffirm our call to ensure immigration reform – specifically a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants in America – remains at the forefront of the federal agenda.

“We continue to explore every avenue for meaningful immigration reform this year.  It is past time we deliver the security, safety, and dignity that immigrants have been promised and deserve.”
