CORREA, COLLEAGUES RE-LAUNCH BIPARTISAN REAL ESTATE CAUCUS

WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46), alongside Representatives Mark Alford (MO-04), Tracey Mann (KS-01), and Brittany Pettersen (CO-07), relaunched the Bipartisan Congressional Real Estate Caucus.

The Caucus was re-founded in the 118th Congress after being dormant for several years and grew to over 50 members. Real estate represents 16% of U.S. GDP, supports 2.8 million jobs, and generates $50 billion in tax revenue. Considering its importance, Congress must support policies that allow this industry to prosper.

“Homeownership is the heart of the American Dream. I remember when my family bought our first home. We pooled our nickels and dimes together to make the down payment, and then everyone in the family co-signed to qualify for the loan,” Correa said. “It was that investment decision that changed our lives and was the key to achieving the middle class. We need to make sure we keep home ownership accessible to all Americans, and our Caucus will work to make it so more hard-working American taxpayers on Main Street can also reach their American Dream.”

This caucus is being supported by the following groups:

  • The National Association of Realtors® (NAR),
  • National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC)
  • National Apartment Association (NAA)
  • Real Estate Technology and Transformation Center (RETTC)
  • US Mortgage Insurers (USMI)
  • National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
  • LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance
  • American Land Title Association (ALTA)
  • National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP)
  • American Property Owners Alliance (APOA)
  • Leading Builders of America

“At the heart of the American dream is the ability to work hard, provide for your family, and create a safe, stable home. Real estate businesses, agents, and developers play a crucial role helping Americans attain that American dream. The real estate industry should be empowered to provide housing options, generate jobs, and provide quality services for home and business owners. Unfortunately, heavy handed regulations from the federal government and rising costs have made the environment more challenging. As a former commercial real estate agent, I’m proud to co-chair the Congressional Real Estate Caucus to advocate to help make the American Dream attainable once again,” Mann said.

“I am proud to serve as a Co-Chair of the Real Estate Caucus. I know that housing is a key issue for all Americans, and especially for Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District. I am proud of the work this caucus did in the 118th Congress to help fix VA Home Loans and to provide a pro-housing perspective on regulatory issues. I’m honored to be able to chair this Caucus and work together to solve Real Estate and housing issues.” Alford said.

“Owning a home is a central part of the American Dream, and it’s become out of reach for far too many people. Communities in Colorado and across the country know how drastic the housing crisis is, and the real estate industry will play a critical role in addressing the barriers to homeownership. I’m looking forward to continuing serving as Co-Chair of this bipartisan caucus to help bring Republicans and Democrats together to increase our housing supply, make it easier to buy a home, and foster a market that is beneficial for all,” Pettersen said.
