Correa Calls for Ways and Means to Include Repeal on SALT Deduction in Reconciliation
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA), announced he sent a letter to the House Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Ricard Neal, requesting for middle class families to receive assistance by repealing the cap on the state and local tax (SALT) deduction. The current limitations on SALT in effect raised taxes on constituents in CA-46 and across the country.
The letter states: “The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2018 included a cap on the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, which has been devastating for middle class families. Now, Congress has the chance to correct this egregious mistake.
According to the Franchise Tax Board, an estimate 1 million households paid $12 billion more because of the SALT cap.
I urge that you include a repeal of the cap on SALT deduction in the reconciliation package to reinstate fairness to middle class families.”
