Legislation Will Protect DREAMers & Create A Pathway To Citizenship For 2.5 Million Immigrant Children

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA-46)released the following statement about the passage of H.R. 6 - The Dream & Promise Act.

Rep. Lou Correa said, "Last Congress, when Democrats took back the House, we committed to passing comprehensive legislation to protect our DREAMers, and we did. This year we passed that legislation again, but this time with a Democratic President willing to sign it into law.  Now it is on to the Senate for a vote.

"DREAMers deserve to live in peace and continue contributing to our great nation without fear of deportation. I am very proud to have helped make this happen. Our DREAMers have earned this. It is about time we made it right."

Background: Congressman Lou Correa represents one of the largest populations of DACA recipients in the United States and has been a tireless advocate in creating a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers.

On November 29, 2018, Congressman Correa urged Speaker Pelosi to bring DREAMer legislation to the House Floor in a letter with 19 of his Congressional Hispanic Caucus colleagues. That letter can be found here. Speaker Pelosi's response can be found here.
