Congressman Correa Responds To Trump Budget

Washington, DC - Today Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA-46) released the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s third budget proposal:

“Families in my district and across the country are trying to figure out how they are going to pay for their health insurance and pay for their children to attend college. While the stock market continues to soar, many Americans are struggling to get by. This year the President had the opportunity to put forward a budget that addresses the realities faced by hardworking Americans. He did not.

“Once again, the President’s budget is built on the backs of poor people, immigrants, and our most vulnerable neighbors. The President cuts critical programs like Medicaid, food stamps, and affordable housing efforts, and wastes billions on a needless border wall while exploding our national debt.

The very programs Orange County families need to address our community’s homelessness crisis and ensure all our neighbors have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream are on the chopping block. We must strengthen our nation by investing in healthcare, education, and scientific research while addressing the deficit for future generations.”
